What is a NAAT test?
Nucleic acid amplification tests (PCR, RT-PCR).
A PCR test for Covid-19 is a sample taken by gently inserting a tip (tops) into the nose. The test is performed by medically trained personnel and the answer is sent to a certified laboratory.
Our travel certificates comply with the international requirements for travel certificates as they are performed in a nationally accredited laboratory, performed by healthcare professionals and signed by a doctor.

Results of the PCR test
Time for sampling
Time of issue of the medical certificate
We base the certificates on the information you provide when booking. Therefore, check these an extra time so everything is correct.

What does the test answer mean?
Different types of test answers
• Positive - means you have Covid-19 when the virus was found in the sample you provided. We will notify you of this so that you can put yourself in quarantine in line with the Swedish Public Health Agency's recommendations.
• Negative - In the event of a negative PCR test, we can issue a health certificate for travel in English that proves this.
• Not assessable - means that it is not possible to get any result from the test. A new test is recommended.
Also note that we will not be able to issue a certificate in the Non-assessable test.
Carelab is not responsible for whether a test generates the result "Not assessable".
We are also not responsible for any costs for the patient as a result of this, e.g. in the form of missed trips.
What applies when sampling children?
Many countries do not require children to be able to present a certificate of a negative covid test. Check what applies to the country you are traveling to at www.swedenabroad.se
Sampling can feel uncomfortable for many children. We do our best to make it as good as possible.
The child's passport must be taken to the sampling.
What is the difference between PCR and antigen tests?
The PCR tests are the safest tests we have to detect ongoing covid infection. They respond to very low virus levels, and even kill virus residues long after the infection is over and the patient is no longer infected. The downside is that they require laboratory analysis and that it takes time to get answers.
The advantage of antigen tests is that they can detect active disease quickly and do not require laboratory analysis. Antigen tests are generally easy to use and can provide answers within 15-30 minutes.
Which laboratories do you collaborate with?
We collaborate with the accredited laboratory
It is approved by the Public Health Authority according to ISO / IEC 15186
